Raspberry-Rosemary Vodka Lemonade

I’ve talked before about my surprising dislike of tea, yoga and juices. Everyone assumes I love these things because I’m vegan, but I want no part of any of them.

And now I have two more to add to the list: pilates and water. I’m going to give pilates one more shot, but I’ve totally given up on my ability to drink plain water. We’re done.

I’ve been battling this for a while now and trying to kick my Vitamin Water habit, but it’s a struggle. Whenever I put myself on Vitamin Water restriction, I actually find myself not drinking anything and just being perpetually thirsty. It’s ridiculous. And aside from the entire health aspect, if someone were to add up the amount of money I spend per month on Vitamin Water alone, I would probably cry. So I’ve recently started buying lemons and limes in bulk and squeezing those in my water. It’s a pain, but it’s been somewhat successful.

And it did give me the idea to make fresh squeezed vodka lemonade. Then I saw a picture of raspberry rosemary skewers somewhere and things got out of control, as they do. Forget lemon water. I’m just going to drink these from now on.

PS – I’m SORRY for these subpar photos. They’re hurting my eyes too. I don’t have access to much natural lighting in my NY apartment, and this is the best I could do!

Raspberry-Rosemary Vodka Lemonade
This is a great summer daytime drink, which are my favorite kind. I’m always a fan of day drinking rather than late nights, preferring beaches and brunches to clubs and shots. I also love this drink because it has minimal sugars, all-natural mixers, and interesting flavor combinations. The raspberry skewers look fancy and provide a built-in stirrer while slowly releasing flavor and turning the drink a pretty pink. And as with most things on this blog, they are insanely easy to make.

You could definitely make these drinks without the alcohol. Or you could just add rosemary raspberry skewers to a glass of regular water if you really need some motivation to drink your 8 glasses a day. Which I might.

Ingredients
  1. 2 cups water
  2. 2 lemons
  3. 2 sprigs rosemary
  4. 8 raspberries
  5. 2 tablespoons truvia
  6. 2 shots vodka
  7. ice
Instructions
  1. Thread raspberries onto rosemary sprigs (mine fit about 4 berries each) and freeze.
  2. Squeeze the juice of 1/2 lemons into 2 cups water. Add Truvia and vodka, and stir.
  3. Fill two glasses with ice and thinly slice the remaining lemon into circles. Place the thin lemon slices alongside the inner walls of the glass.
  4. Pour vodka lemonade over ice and garnish with rosemary-raspberry skewers.
Notes
  1. If you prefer to use real sugar, just make it into a simple syrup first, because it won't dissolve like Truvia and other sugar replacements.
